Yo! See What's New for 2007

Health & Fitness Expo

  • New Expo Location – This year, the Health and Fitness Expo will be held at Temple University’s Liacouras Center located on the Avenue of the Arts (1776 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19121), north of historic City Hall.

Pre-race

  • Boundless Philadelphia™ presents Run with the Olympians - New this year is the chance to Run with the Olympians, scheduled for Saturday, November 17, at 9:00 a.m. (Free onsite registration begins at 8:00 a.m.)  During this warm-up, runners of all age levels and ability levels can join some of the sports best athletes on a scenic four-mile course.  Featured Olympians, including Tim Broe and Carrie Tollefson, both participants of the 2004 Olympic Games, and Todd Williams, a 1992 and 1996 Olympian, will choose different paces to accommodate runners of every level.  Participants can choose their own distances on the out-and-back course.  Complimentary post-race snacks will be provided.  Click here to register online.
  • We will add a new gear check area with more space and more volunteers.
  • We will add information kiosks so you’ll know where to go to get all of your last minute questions answered.

Start

  • The Marathon and Half-Marathon will have a separate corral area and a separate timing system.
  • We will add more corral space.  Half marathoners will start on one side of the inner drive and marathoners will start on the other side.  This will allow both groups to seed themselves.  (In 2006, everyone started together on one side.)
  • We will lengthen the corral start area to 1200’ x 25’ to provide even more room at the start.  (In 2006, the total start area for both races was 1000’ x 25’.)

Race Course

  • Marathoners and Half-marathoners will use the same course up to 13 miles, so all markers in 2007 will be uniform.
  • We will keep the finish line open for 7 hours.  (5½ hours in 2006.)
  • We will have more visibly placed mile markers.  Each mile marker will be 6’ above the course clock.
  • We will add 5K mile markers.

Finish

  • We will add more barricades to enclose this area.
  • Our family meeting area space has been doubled.
  • We will have even more volunteers at the finish.

Post-Race

  • We will be bagging all the food items this year to ensure that every participant is taken care of.
